I Am A Writer.

Hey Guys!

So, it’s the night of Monday, May 22nd, 2023. I’ve spent the whole evening up until an hour ago (it’s 1AM 😂) trying to come up with a new gameplan for the blog.

How to get it off the ground, how I can eventually support myself financially with it, how to come up with content consistently, even on poor mental health days.

I was sold a lie about 2 years ago when I started Evan: The Artist. I was sold a certain way to blog that if done to a T, could yield tens of thousands of dollars in monthly earnings (before tax, mind you).

Problem is, it was being pushed by people who didn’t create the way I do!

They worshipped the Algorithms, but I found that doesn’t gel with my workflow.
They were selling other people’s products they didn’t even use themselves, when I like recommending things that I’ve tried. Plus, I don’t want to be the proverbial “Snake Oil Salesperson.” That’s like, the definition of selling out!
They enlisted in Search Engine Optimization (SEO for short) techniques to make their pages rank high on Google where the most people could see them!
Pick a niche (I pronounce it “Nitch”, not “neesh”, thank you very much!), when I like to talk about whatever I want, whenever I want to! ✊🏾❤️

The thing is, there’s nothing wrong (inherently) with doing things this way. I just don’t like doing them at the expense of the creative expression. Whether it be writing, drawing, making music, making a video/movie, or creating anything fun and new with a computer!

I’ve been trying ever since I got this website running in 2021 to force and funnel myself into these constructs that put money over expression: a business model I’ve never been a fan of. To no one’s surprise (but my own until somewhat recently 🤣), it hasn’t been working for me.

Like all creative things I do, I write for the sake of writing. I enjoy it that way (just like I’m enjoying it right now!) If I’m going monetize my act of writing, I want to do it my way: Pure, unfiltered, noncompromising and authentic.

Okay, now that that’s settled, since I want to make money from my writing, I’ve decided that (Here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for):

Evan: The Artist is now a Lifestyle Blog!

I’ll talk about all the same topics you see on the main menu, but instead of each post being a nugget of isolated wisdom, I’ll be mixing the storytelling with the wisdom!

I have a lot of things I’m learning about right now, and even more things I will be getting into in the near future. You guys will get to keep with me as I enrich my life with learning and acquiring skills I want to gain, and y’all will gain enrichment by following me and y’all will learn from me by osmosis!

And every once in a while when I have some new thing down to a science, I’ll make a blog post that summarizes the info on a specific topic or task!

I told my dad that though I’m good at both, I am a better storyteller than I am a guide, helper or guru. When I’ve told stories in the past, people always say they learn something, and I wasn’t even trying to teach them intentionally! Whatever the winning business model for ETA ends up being, It has to be something sustainable for me, the creator. 😊❤️

That also means posts will be shorter, and as I get this down pat, more frequent, like a new post every weekday!

Speaking of keeping things short(er), I think that’s all I wish to give y’all today!
