ETA Log – May 23rd, 2023: Great Start, then Slump

This post is a part of The ETA Log. The post before this can be found here.

Hey Guys.

It’s Tuesday, and I’m here at the end of the day to say,

Sometimes you have a good start, and things still don’t work out. 😤😮‍💨

I woke up to my alarm today, rare these days given my emotional health situation and severe anxiety towards alarm clocks.

I didn’t get to sleep until late Monday night because my mind was buzzing with new ideas from my strike of inspiration upon coming up with turning ETA into a lifestyle blog where I document my life. (This being the second blog post in that series)

I thought I needed more sleep, so I set my alarm back further, but couldn’t go back to sleep. I instead started back reading a book I got 2 years ago on my kindle by Austin Kleon called Show Your Work.

Consequently, this is a book that inspired me to document my process early on when I started my blog, and I explored other people’s ways of getting a blog off the ground before they all fell away as options that didn’t work for how I wanted to run the blog.

But Austin’s book sticks. Even after all this time.

Documenting my progress and process of learning how to use Synthesizers, make a profitable online business with a blog at its center, get my mental health in better shape, continuing to teach myself bass and guitar and teaching myself the 3D Design software Blender, all this seems like a very good way to get people’s attention and have y’all join in for the ride as I rise like a flambé! 😂

I also watched an Ali Abdaal video on YouTube this morning (Skip to 6:16 for the 3rd book he talks about in the video) that led me to another intriguing book I got on Audible this morning: Anything You Want: 40 Lessons for a New Kind of Entrepreneur by Derek Sivers (Audible link here). I shifted gears and read that book as I got out of bed.

It has a great start, and I’m curious to see where Derek, who started the independent music distributor CD Baby in 1998 before making millions and selling it a decade later, takes me in this book.

Let me know if you guys would like me to do little book reviews on these once I finish them. ❤️

Then, I’m not sure if it was the sleep deficit or trying to convince my mom to see 5 movies with me over summer (she turned down 3 after I sent her the trailers! 😅), but by 12:30PM, I was spent, and out of touch with my inspiration.

I decided to take a cat nap at 1.

That cat nap lasted 4 hours. 🤦🏾‍♂️

I was really discouraged at this point; Annoyed.

I woke up in time to make my lemon garlic Salad Dressing for dinner, and then as I was doing that, the empath I am, I could sense some tension between my parents which didn’t do any good for my emotional health, plus it was loud in the kitchen, the TV was loud (not good for autistic ears) and I felt defeated (as if I didn’t already).

I went to my room to decompress, so emotionally battered, I went to sleep again. Then awhile ago, I woke up again, finished my Salad, now I’m writing to y’all now.

I’m really struggling to get my confidence back, So…

Here’s to Hoping tomorrow turns out better this time. ❤️

I love you guys. 😊❤️
